wainuioru School – Classroom block Upgrade

Our Role:  Designer, Project Manager, Engineer to the Contract

This classroom upgrade was another turnkey package that required a complete overhaul of the existing rooms.  Allowing for some additional coordination between the spaces while still leaving room for private and quiet areas was crucial.  It was important to give the classrooms a fresh and modern feel with new carpet, state of the art acoustic ceiling tiles and new LED lighting. We also made sure to retain the prized wood burners!

The School community wanted to reflect the story of the journey across the plains from the Tararua’s to the Pacific Ocean  and the role the Ruamahanga River has in the region as its travels from the Tararua’s in the North down the plains to Palliser Bay on the south coast. This story is reflected in the colours of the classrooms as you move from the northern most room in green tones to the blue hues of the southern classroom. Very subtle pattern changes reflected in the carpet tiles also runs through the rooms reflecting the river running down the plains.
